Pastoral Care in Hopsitals and Prisons

In Hospitals
Many hospitals and hospices give patients access to chaplains of various religions. Non-religious people often contact the BHA asking if there is some sort of humanist equivalent.
The BHA have a limited number of men and women trained as humanist pastoral support volunteers and are in the process of training more. If you are interested in volunteering as a pastoral care worker or perhaps you are a patient or a healthcare provider seeking such provision please do get in touch by email at pastoralsupport@humanism.org.uk or by post to 'British Humanist Association, 39 Moreland Street, London EC1V 8BB'

In Prisons
If you are a humanist in prison you have the legal right to a humanist pastoral support visitor in the same way that a religious prisoner has the legal right to see a chaplain of their religion.
The BHA have a limited number of men and women trained as humanist pastoral support volunteers and we are in the process of training more. If you interested in becoming a humanist pastoral care worker or are a humanist in prison, please do get in touch by email at pastoralsupport@humanism.org.uk or by post to 'British Humanist Association, 39 Moreland Street, London EC1V 8BB' and we will try to help you.
